This six-week class taught by Katherine D. Stutzman, will focus on the act of getting started, and will help you develop your own unique writing practice. Together we will explore various approaches to the writing process, practice generating ideas and images, and share our own work with each other. We will read contemporary short stories to investigate how each of the authors’ choices affect the finished story. Most importantly, we will write: exercises, journals, short pieces, longer pieces, and everything in between, with the goal of stretching our imaginations and becoming better writers. Please bring a notebook to class.
