Self-Massage and Mindfulness

 Join Julia for a trauma-informed, body-positive workshop for those who want to take care of their bodies in truly personal ways.  Drawing from mindfulness practices, myofascial release, craniosacral therapy, and yoga, you’ll leave less tense, more grounded and rich in new, somatically generated insights.  You’ll also come away with easily reproducible movement and self-massage techniques to make more space between your cells at home.

This is an experiential body-based reflection.  I use small inflatable balls to teach self-massage.  We’ll do some meditation, and written reflection as well as a movement or two to help the newly released areas find stability.  I see folks walking away feeling a sense of relief or increased ease in their bodies, as well as excited to try things at home. The vibe will be one of safety and exploration. The workshop will include:


  • Sits/meditation
  • Ball release – myofascial release for self-massage
  • Core activating movements- think core as in muscles that lie closest to bones
  • Journaling – to keep thoughts and sensations in dialogue consciously
  • Ritual – An action +  an intention to = manifestation

About the Teacher: Julia has been a massage therapist and bodyworker for 10 years.  She runs Threshold Wellness, teaches mindfulness to students through What Is: Mindfulness, and is in the process of completing a yoga teacher training.  She has taught anatomy and physiology as well as self and couples’ massage workshops to adults.
